Introducing the First Craft IPA Brewed Using a Recipe Created by ChatGPT

Artifex Brewing Company, a Craft Brewery based in San Clemente, California, used ChatGPT to create a recipe for “a west coast IPA that has never been brewed before.” 

The aptly named new beer, “A.I.pa” is available in limited supply at Artifex’s two San Clemente tasting room locations beginning January 25, 2023.

SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA – January 24, 2024 – Artifex Brewing Company is proud to announce the release of our newest West Coast IPA, "A.I.pa," inspired by the recipe generated by the AI language model, ChatGPT. Our team of expert brewers worked closely with ChatGPT to create a unique and delicious IPA that is sure to be a hit with beer enthusiasts. 

"We wanted to push the boundaries of traditional brewing by incorporating the latest technology into the process," said Johnny Johur, head brewer of Artifex Brewing Company. A.I.pa is a crisp and dank West Coast IPA with a balance of pine and citrus flavors, a medium body and a moderate bitterness. Its recipe was created by combining various flavor profiles and ingredients suggested by the chatbot.
